Even though Canario was weak and couldn’t stand, they went up to the owner and asked for permission to help save him.

Volunteers for Our Horses (VPN) and Ayuda a Caballos Maltratados (ACMA) learned about Canario’s plight and were shocked by how bad his situation was. Canario was an old horse whose body showed signs of a long, hard life. It was not a case of mistreatment.
At some point, it became clear that Canario’s pain had hit its peak and that not much more could be done to ease it. With sad hearts, the choice was made to ease Canario’s pain and give him the peace he needed so badly.
The Miranda family was shocked when they heard that Canario had died, but they quickly realised what was really going on. What they thought at first was a sick young horse turned out to be an old soul looking for comfort in his last days.
